Providing cues to persons with aphasia (PWA) to assist with communication is common practice in speech-language pathology. Research has suggested that cueing hierarchies can be an effective and systematic way to treat word retrieval impairments in PWA. This resource will discuss the goals of cueing hierarchies, types of cues, types of hierarchies, and review the literature.
