The purpose of this resource is to provide speech-language pathologists (SLPs) that treat adult individuals with dysphagia, motor speech, and/or voice disorders with an overview of myofascial release (MFR), a type of manual therapy. This resource aims to provide an overview of the following: a) what is myofascial release and when it may be indicated, b) the evidence to support the use of myofascial release for speech, swallowing, and/or voice disorders) what is involved in training for use of the modality, and d) documentation and billing associated with use of manual therapy.
