Introduction:
Most parents face a critical point in their feeding journey – introducing solid foods, also known as complementary foods. Now more than ever, parents may receive information that is not evidence-based from various sources, like friends and family, social media, and online (Garcia et al., 2019). Speech language pathologists serve an important role in providing guidance and supports to parents determining when and how to transition to solid foods.
There are three major decisions parents face when introducing solid foods: when to introduce, how to introduce, and what to introduce.
