Introduction:
PDPM was implemented October 1, 2019 with the intent to improve payment accuracy and appropriateness by focusing on the patient instead of therapy volume (Gershman et al., 2018). However, PDPM can be difficult to understand in its’ entirety and has contributed to some confusion amongst speech-language pathologists (SLP) regarding their role in case-mix, coding, and billing. The purpose of this content is to provide SLPs further information on PDPM including: a) links to resources where the SLP can access the most relevant information related to PDPM and b) SLP case-mix components for reimbursement and accurate patient identification. In addition, the ICD-10 list, which provides the current ICD-10 codes relevant to SLPs for the case mix portion of PDPM, is included within this resource.
