ASHA CEU FAQs
ASHA FAQs
What do I need to know about offerings for ASHA CEUs?
There are two ways to obtain CEUs on our website. (Your state requirements will depict how you take them!)
Important Information About Webinars/Summits/Journal Club:
- IF your state requires you to attend LIVE courses (check out this post for your state requirements) then you must attend the Webinars/Summits/Journal Club LIVE.
- During the last week of every month we will have a LIVE 2-hour webinar usually around 8-9pm EST. (We usually try to aim for the last Wednesday of the month around 8:30pmEST but sometimes we have scheduling conflicts) If your state licensing board requires you to take LIVE courses, then be sure to show up at this time! They are interactive so you are able to ask the presenter questions during the webinar.
- These Webinars/Summits/Journal Clubs are ALL recorded and will be posted in the ASHA CEUs section of the MedSLP Collective on the 1st of the following month. (So if the offering is January 25, the recording will be available Feb 1) You can always go back and watch the recorded one and get your ASHA CEUs that way, but just be mindful of your state requirements if you’re needing to show up LIVE so you clear your schedule.
- Currently there are over 80 webinars on the site and some are 1 hours, and some are 2, so they are registered for 0.1 ASHA CEUs or 0.2 ASHA CEUs respectively, but from now on they will all be 2 hours, so you’ll get 0.2 ASHA CEUs for each webinar here on out! We also have two summit recordings that are .95 ASHA CEUs and 1.0 ASHA CEUs. We also offer Journal Clubs, Workshops and Summits for ASHA CEUs.
We also have an “upcoming courses” section on the site, so you can plan your schedule!
- For the LIVE Webinars/Summits/Journal Club: You MUST click the link that we email out, or the event in the Facebook group or forum and click “Take This Course” on the page for the Webinars/Summits/Journal Club in order to watch it LIVE. Again, it is FREE for all members, but by enrolling that is how we verify that you are in fact, a member 🙂
- When you take your quiz, you must check the box that says “I want to receive ASHA CEUs” on the form offered for us to send in your attendance to ASHA. Please fill in all of the information, including your ASHA number, please do not make something up. Please double and triple check that your number is entered correctly in order to not delay reporting. If you put it in wrong you will have to file an appeal later.
- A link to watch the LIVE Webinars/Summits/Journal Club will be emailed to you the day of the webinar. We also will have the handout to you to have ahead of time on the course page. If you do not receive a link at least 30 minutes before the webinar please email info@medslpcollective.com.
- Please do NOT post in the Facebook group looking for the link, no one in the group has access to your account, so please email info@medslpcollective.com
After the Webinars/Summits/Journal Club is Over:
- Once you’ve watched the LIVE Webinars/Summits/Journal Club (and you MUST watch until the END), go back to the “ASHA CEU” or “My Account > My Courses” section of the site to complete the course survey and take the quiz. You will have 14 days after the LIVE webinar to take the quiz, so no immediate rush.
- If you are a member of the ASHA CE Registry and want ASHA CEUs reported for you, you must fill out the form on the quiz page to request them. It takes up to 45 days to apply to transcript from the date of the webinar.
- After you’ve passed the quiz, a certificate will pop up for you to print for your records. If it does not pop up, (or you just forgot), contact us at info@medslpcollective.com and we will help you get a copy.
For Recorded Webinars: The process is the same as above, you would just need to watch the video provided in the course. We report ASHA CEUs for recorded courses the first week of the following the month you took your course. It does take ASHA up to 45 days to apply them to transcript.
When are the CEUs Reported to ASHA?
We report your attendance to the live webinars within 14 days of the webinar, and then ASHA has 45 days to get it up on your transcript, so it may take a full 90 days for it to appear on your ASHA CE registry transcript, but you are given credit for the date that the LIVE webinar occurred.
We report the recorded webinars monthly and then ASHA has 45 days to get it up on your CE transcript, so it may take a full 45 days after the end of the month in which you took the course for it to appear on your ASHA CE registry transcript.
Why is there a disclaimer on the certificate for ASHA CEUs?
ASHA requires us to put this on the certificates because sometimes attendees get confused thinking that by attending the course, they are earning the CEUs. This is not true; ASHA CEUs are only awarded to those persons who are valid members of the ASHA CE Registry. Otherwise you can report them to your state as maintenance hours. We send your information over to ASHA if you request it, but it is up to them to check to see if you are a member and put it on your transcript.
