  • Identify two potential benefits of the use of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) in the pediatric population

  • Identify two contraindications of use of NMES in the pediatric population

  • Describe clinical practice patterns of speech-language pathologists (SLP) who use NMES with high-risk infants

Course Agenda

  • 80-5 minutes:: Introduction of topic, articles being covered, and presenters
  • 5-25 minutes: 8:35-8:50 PM EST: An overview of neuromuscular electrical stimulation and evidence based interventions as it relates to the medical SLP
  • 25-58 minutes: Educational dialogue regarding NMES interventions along with Q and A
  • 58-60 minutes: Conclusionary information

Speaker Information and Disclosures

Alyson Ware, MS, CCC-SLP, CLC

Alyson Ware is a pediatric speech-language pathologist whose clinical interests include working with infants, toddlers, and young children with pediatric feeding disorders. She has worked in private practice, early childhood intervention and a children’s hospital.

Alyson currently works in early intervention and is passionate about providing family-centered services and creating processes to promote continuity of care.

Jessica Lasky is a medical Speech-Language Pathologist that specializes in dysphagia and the adult and geriatric populations. Jessica has worked in nearly every setting possible from outpatient neuro rehabilitation, stroke, and trauma 1 hospitals, acute rehab facilities, and SNFs.
