Introduction:

Comprehensive assessment by a speech-language pathologist (SLP) is critical for children with traumatic brain injury (TBI). A comprehensive assessment should address speech, language, and communication, including cognitive communication (Ciccia et al., 2021; MacDonald, 2017). This resource, focusing on cognitive-communication, is the first in a three-part series related to SLP assessment for childhood TBI. For a refresher on cognitive-communication and TBI, please reference the resource Cognitive-Communication and Childhood Traumatic Brain Injury.
